By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
Define what matter is.
Identify the three main states of matter: solid, liquid, and gas.
Describe the properties of each state.
Explain the changes of state (melting, freezing, evaporation, condensation).
Give examples of matter in each state from daily life.
Everything around us is made of matter — the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the chair we sit on.
Matter can exist in three main states:
Solid: has a fixed shape and volume (e.g., ice, wood, stone).
Liquid: has a fixed volume but takes the shape of its container (e.g., water, milk, juice).
Gas: has no fixed shape or volume (e.g., air, steam).
Students will observe how matter changes from one state to another:
Melting: solid → liquid (ice → water)
Evaporation: liquid → gas (water → vapor)
Condensation: gas → liquid (vapor → water)
Freezing: liquid → solid (water → ice)
